Helping you create books kids will love
I’ve been a bookworm since birth, and I am so happy that I’ve been able to turn my love of reading into a career. I became a freelance editor in 2017 and began working with picture books in 2019. I am now expanding my services to include middle grade and young adult novels.
In addition to editing, I am a writer and aspiring author. I have a rhyming poem under contract with High Five magazine and have been recognized in multiple contests, such as receiving an honourable mention in the 2025 PBParty and being shortlisted in CANSCAIP’s 2025 Writing for Children competition.
Outside of my work, I am a mom of two young children and a collector of hobbies: belly dance, yoga, knitting, crochet, sewing, and of course, reading. I grew up in BC and now live in Ontario, where I run the Kingston twig for Editors Canada. I’m also a member of SCBWI, CANSCAIP, and the 12×12 picture book challenge.

“As a first-time children’s book author, Danielle’s invaluable feedback significantly improved the flow of my book. Her thoroughness and responsiveness made her an absolute pleasure to work with. Highly recommend!”

Who I am and what I do
Picture books are my jam! I love the challenge of fitting so much story into so few words. I’ve worked on fiction and nonfiction manuscripts written in both rhyme and prose, and I’m happy to work on any genre, though I have a soft spot for humour and surprise endings. I offer editing packages that include developmental, line, and copy editing, helping you take your picture book from draft to polished manuscript.
For middle grade and young adult novels, I am currently focusing on manuscript evaluations and developmental editing. I will be offering line and copy editing down the road and would be happy to discuss those services with you at any time. I’m interested in working on most genres but especially love any kind of escapism. I’m not a good fit for horror, graphic novels, or novels-in-verse at this time as I do not have the knowledge I would need to offer you quality feedback.
For all types of book, I offer free 20-minute video consultations so we can make sure we’re a good fit for each other. I also offer longer video consultations where we can discuss any questions you have around writing and publishing, such as figuring out a direction for your manuscript or determining which publishing path is right for you.
“I had the pleasure of working with Danielle on my rhyming picture book manuscript and was so impressed with her expertise. She’s responsive, approachable, and timely in her feedback. She combines a sharp ear for meter and rhyme with a strong sense of what works in the picture book market. Her notes were not only insightful but also practical, giving me concrete ways to strengthen my story. I left the process feeling inspired and confident, and I look forward to collaborating with her again.”
